Top 10 Web Browsers – Most used in 2009

Truth is so different than expectations. People talk about weakness of Internet Explorer but it was still ranked #1 in 2009 Top 10 list. Firefox continues its way up with small steps.

  1. Netscape

    There are a few users still have ancient Netscape.

  2. Camino

    MAC OS X based alternative browser.

  3. SeaMonkey

    SeaMonkey is another all-in-one browser project which supported by Mozilla Foundation.

  4. Konqueror

    File and Internet browser of the Linux. It is a part of KDE Interface.

  5. Mozilla

    Not supported by Mozilla Foundation anymore but still seen around.

  6. Opera

    Opera could not reach a big audience. And start leaking by the time. It has %2.62 market share

  7. Safari

    As the native browser of Apple Safari kept its 4th position with %3.1 market share.

  8. Chrome

    In the end, Google entered into Browser wars and gain %3.2 market share.

  9. Firefox

    Firefox sits in the second place with %31 share. And it is still gaining market share while rivals like Chrome arising in the market

  10. Internet Explorer

    Despite to loosing reputation Internet Explorer still most used web browser in the world with %59 market share in the world. But it lost this position to Firefox in some countries like Germany.

    This is a great list, and it goes to show that IE still holds a firm grip on the market. I wonder how much of that grip is simply because of the strong corporate foothold MS has though? I think as more corporations allow their users to use other browsers, or even insist that they do, we will see the list shake up a little bit. I think the really amazing fact is that there are still Netscape users out there!

    I personnaly use Google Chrome and Firefox. Sometime Chrome gives me better perfomance where as sometime firefox. Both of them are very good and easy to use for me. Actually the job I do needs a high speed browser with secured browsing. So both of them fits to me very good.
